New Audio Day

Well, it's been a long time coming, but the portmanteau audio horror anthology Thirteen,
edited by myself and produced and directed by the massively talented Neil Gardner, has finally been released.

Originally scheduled for Saturday 24th, it was actually made available to buy on the SpokenWorld website a few hours earlier, on Friday evening.

You can download the anthology HERE for just £9.99 of your mortal money - that works out at less than 77p per story (that includes a 3-part linking story written by yours truly thrown in absolutely free!!)

Already the reviews for Thirteen are popping up all over the interweb -

"The individual chillers are held together by the traditional 'bridging' story, in this case the classic trope of the old curiosity shop, here selling vinyl records that contain a hidden track, which happen to be these particularly fine scary stories...Overall, this is a great collection of supernatural tales, with a mournful and melancholy tone. They feel very much like old fashioned ghost stories and are genuinely chilling - 9/10" Starburst Magazine

"A collection of spooky audio tales designed to keep you chilled no matter what the weather...
Scott Harrison - who contributes the linking story - has brought together an intriguing mix of writers for this tribute to the old horror anthologies of the 1970s...There are no clunkers in the anthology - 8/10" Sci-Fi Bulletin

You can read the full Starburst review HERE and the full Sci-Fi Bulletin review HERE

I was also asked to write an article on the influences behind this audio anthology...so I did! It's called The Thirteen Sources of Thirteen and in it I briefly sketch out the 13 audiobooks, LPs, TV Programmes and books that probably had the most influence on the creation of Thirteen (including M.R. James's The Mezzotint, Nigel Kneale's Beasts and Sapphire & Steel), and you can read it HERE.

Thirteen - Cover Reveal / Release Date

Well, Thirteen, the audio horror anthology I’ve been working on with producer Neil Gardner now has an official release date AND a stunning new cover.

Release date for the anthology will be Saturday 24th August 2013.

With a runtime of 3hrs 36mins, the anthology will be available to download as a 320Kbps MP3 for just £9.99.

Also I’m proud to finally reveal the stunning cover artwork by Matt Dillon, who has created something that not only evokes the old LPs of the 1960s & 70s, but also manages to be incredibly exciting and modern.

If sales are encouraging for this first anthology then both Neil and myself are hoping to attract funding from a few interested parties, including Audible. So please download yourself a copy from the 24th August and spread the word, you honestly won’t regret it!

Twisted Histories - Full ToC / Thirteen Audio

It’s Horror Anthology Day on this blog today, as I have news updates on two different, but equally exciting, horror anthologies I’ve been working on recently.

The first is the cover for Twisted Histories, the second in a range of on-going anthologies I’m editing for UK publishers Snowbooks, which has now been signed off and was sent to me last night.

Harking back to those wonderful covers of yesteryear, the design is wonderfully creepy and I couldn’t be more pleased with it.

The anthology will see brand new stories from 11 authors which retell (or reimagine) stories from ancient mythology, folklore, legend and Biblical tropes.

And now, for the first time, I can reveal the full ToC of the book:

01 – Blood Is Blood by Kaaron Warren  [Gog & Magog]

02 – Little Boxes by Gary McMahon  [Pandora’s Box]

03 – Collapse by Susan Murray  [Green Man / John Barleycorn]

04 – Blame The French by Stephen Gallagher  [Odysseus]

05 – A Silence Between The Sounds by Scott Harrison  [The Magi]

06 – Containment by Justin Richards  [Werewolves]

07 – The Tides of Avalon by Jennifer Williams  [King Arthur / Mermaids]

08 – Flaming Sword by Richard Dinnick  [Adam & Eve]

09 – Covenants by Simon Beswick   [Ark of the Covenant]

10 – The Second Coming by Wayne Simmons  [The Resurrection]

11 – The Lips of Every Sleeper by Alison Littlewood  [Dryads]

Twisted Histories will be published in paperback in November.

"Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Hamilton  James McCauley...and I am a murderer!"

Also last night (yes, it was a very busy evening) I was sent the final mix of the audio anthology I’ve been putting together with the brilliant SpokenWorldAudio, called Thirteen, and it sounds wonderfully chilling and absolutely fantastic.

The audio is a homage to the old horror anthology LPs from the 1960s and 70s, and is presented as a ‘portmanteau’ anthology, with an ‘umbrella’ story tying the whole 13 stories together.

Cover artwork is now being finalised, which means the anthology should be available as an mp3 download very, very soon.

A trailer is currently being put together and I will post it up on the blog the moment I get my grubby little mitts on it.

Exciting stuff!!
